The Florida Department of Law Enforcement divides violent crimes into the
Florida's violent crimes are considered serious offenses and are prosecuted
as such. To illustrate, under Section 784.021, aggravated assault is a
felony of the third degree, punishable by up to 5 years in prison and

Pursuant to Florida's sexual battery statutes, a person who commits

consent commits a felony of the first degree, punishable by up to 30 years
in prison and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
